Based on the corporate philosophy “Kyosei”, Canon Hongkong Co., Ltd. (CHK) organizes recycling programs, environmental awareness campaigns and green procurement. Since 2009, CHK launched ‘Ink Cartridge Recycling Programme’ and place collection box at many locations such as computer centre and shopping malls to collect used ink cartridges. Last year, CHK brings the ‘Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition’ to education sector and welcomes all primary and secondary schools to join and keep those used ink-jet printer cartridges out of the landfills.

The Canon Inter-school ink cartridge recycling competition came to a close on 7 July at Lok Fu Plaza. Mr. Hisahiro Minokawa, President and CEO of CHK; Mr. Michael Fung, Senior Director and General Manager of Domestic Business Imaging Solution Group; and Mr. Vincent Cheung, Senior Director and General Manager of Regional Consumer Imaging & Information Group presented the awards to the winners.

This year, over sixty schools participated and collected more than 8,000 used ink cartridges for recycling. CHK also offers several levels of reward to participating schools to encourage collection, such as Canon large format printer and document scanner. The Grand Prize – Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE multi-functional printer (worth HK$150,000) will be rewarded to the school collected the most number of cartridges in total.

The Ink Cartridge Recycling Programme is fully supported by Ms. Alice Mak, the creator of McDull. We hope to draw more attention from students to participate this programme. Moreover, the awards of ink cartridge recycling box design contest were also presented in the ceremony; all winners were granted a PIXMA multi-function photo printer as prize.
